I am truly spoiled living so close to the Gulf of Mexico in regards to my access to fresh gulf shrimp! I buy from my local Co-Op which spoils me even more as I can pick up freshly caught shrimp the same day! It is a truly luxury I know, but I will take it! For those in other parts of the world, as with all seafood, I recommend WILD only.
Many think of shrimp as solely a source of protein, but shrimp also provides numerous other vitamins, minerals and nutrients. Shrimp is a great source of healthy omega fatty acids, selenium, vitamin B12, phosphorous, choline, copper, and iodine. Shrimp is also low in calories.
